Options trade
The options bill
Change the trade or the brokerage and the bill recalculates. The trade is invented; the rates are NSE’s.
How each line is worked
- STT: 0.15% of sell value (premium).
- NSE transaction charge: ₹3,552.99 per crore, each side (premium), on buy value plus sell value. NSE’s circular lists it as “Rs. 3,552.99 each side” for Equity Options (on premium), levied on trading members.
- SEBI turnover fee: ₹10 per crore of buy value plus sell value.
- Stamp duty: 0.003% of buy value, paid by the buyer.
- GST: 18% applied here to brokerage only, the “stock brokers services” line NSE lists; a contract note may apply it more widely.
For options every line is worked on the premium, not on the underlying. STT is 0.15% of the premium on a sale since 1 April 2026. If an option is exercised, STT of 0.15% on the intrinsic value is payable by the purchaser; that case is not on this bill.
The rates, as published
Sale of an option in securities | 0.15 per cent | 0.10 per cent | Seller - on the option premium.
Derivatives – Equity Options | 0.003% | Buyer
0.0001 per cent of the price at which the securities are purchased or sold (Rs.10 per crore)
Stock brokers Services | 18.00% (GST) | Brokers and collected from their clients.
The above revision will be applicable with effect from March 1, 2026.
